Restored 5k Tach Cluster

Here are the details on this cluster:

Tach - Brand new reproduction

Fuel, Temp, Oil & Battery Gauges - These are nice OE gauges that have been bench-tested. They all function correctly.

Speedometer - This is a nice OE unit. Tested by spinning it with a servo motor at precisely 1001 RPM, and it read 60mph (60mph is perfect). Input shaft lubricated and odometer set back to zero.

Front Tin - OE, very clean, no rust - Factory-style formed opening added for the tach. Video

Back Tin - OE - Tach hole added using a CNC router based on a pattern made from a factory tach tin. Bead blasted and repainted. Video

Lens - OE - Dummy tach markings removed, and die-cut decals applied for the 5k tach. The lens is nice, and it has very little in the way of swirl marks or scratches. Video

Bezel - Reproduction 67-68 style from Auto Metal Direct.

Printed Circuit - Brand new reproduction

Bulbs - Tested good

Re: Restored 5k Tach Cluster

That is a nice cluster!! I am curious, why does it seem no one repaints the hot zone on the temp gauge when restoring these clusters?

I have seen some attempts at doing that, but it ends up looking sloppy.

because the paint needed to do that is super thin and can't hardly be applied taped off so small without making a mess of it. better to find NOS and go that route

This one is from LMC. I've put about 15 of them in clusters and have received no complaints.

Thank you, Mike. It helps when it starts out as a very clean original.
