Greyish bed wood

Hey All
Just looking to see if anyone has any sample pictures of greyish looking bedwood done?. I am currently doing a 68 swb/fleetside K10 Chevy and leaning toward some kind of grey stain with stainless trips.

Thanks

Re: Greyish bed wood

You could weather wood but I don't recommend that. I would look at maple with a grey stain. Ash is a light wood but does not stain well. Benjamin Moore makes quality stain. Minwax is second rate. If you are going to stain just make sure that all wood is well sanded with the same grit paper. It is the fine scratches from the paper that hold pigments for color and if you don't get all wood sanded to same grit you will get blotching. Good luck

I did a quick search but didnt see any here on the board that have been posted. But I do know I have seen several posted on the board that sound like what you are looking for. Unfortunately I often suck at searches. They are out there.

Re: Greyish bed wood

Someone years ago did a bed with the Trex style fake wood in gray. It looked good to me. I just can't find the build thread at moment.

Re: Greyish bed wood

Starting in ‘69 bed wood was painted body color. On my short step I made new bed wood using the composite decking trim pieces from Lowes. It comes in a gray color. My truck is silver (original paint looks primer gray pretty much now) and the bed wood a nice complement. Sorry, no pics.

Re: Greyish bed wood

Thanks All,
Below is my cab showing the color I went and attached is a bed color I am leaning towards. Although a bit to much shine for my liking, I found online so no idea what wood/color.

That's going to be a nice looking truck when you're done. Is that slate gray?
