Help! Do you recognize me?

I found this bolt where I normally park my Blazer. I don't recognize it, and if it did come off the Blazer, I don't know where it came from. The head is 1/2", the threads measure out to 5/16-24 (I don't have a 5/16-24 nut on hand to verify it) and the overall length below the head is just over 1".

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Help! Do you recognize me?

Looks kinda like a seat belt or shoulder harness bolt.

Re: Help! Do you recognize me?

My Blazer didn't have a rear seat when I got it. I suppose it could have been hiding in some nook or cranny for all these years and just dropped out now.

It's not like any bolt I remember seeing on any of the Chevy or GMC trucks I've owned. I'm really curious.

Is it for the rear seat? I know the fronts are 1/2 inch threads.

It's weird to think it's been hiding somewhere for the 18 years I've owned my Blazer. Maybe it was sitting on the gas tank, because that's about the only part I haven't had out of it.

Re: Help! Do you recognize me?

NP205 shifter bolt??? my guess anyway. Although 5/16 is too small for the shifter bolt… yeah seat/seatbelt bolt… I’ll go with that lol.

That sounds plausible - it seems like the thread size might match, but it's still there.

Re: Help! Do you recognize me?

A lot of undisturbed rust on the threads. It hasn't been in anything for a long time. Seat belts are 1/2"-13.

That's for sure. It's more curiosity than concern. I've been through everything mechanical from bumper to bumper. I just don't remember seeing anything like it.

Re: Help! Do you recognize me?

That bolt may have been dropped in the assembly process at the factory.

Then finally found its way out after all these years.

I worked at an assembly plant for several years and Stuff Happens.

Except that's 67s are 7/16. The restoration companies don't know this or don't care. If you buy a kit for belts the bolts don't fit.
