leaf spring vs trailing arm

I have a 68 GMC with leaf springs that should be high 11s low 12s, it needs a rear suspension makeover. it would either be new rear leafs, spring under axle, with caltracs or convert to trailing arm and probable coilovers. this will be street/strip. Opinions?

Re: leaf spring vs trailing arm

Are you going to use this as a race only, or as a street truck/race setup?

My 70 is a trailing arm truck. So with all the modified rear trailing arm suspension I have to use a removable airbag plate system I designed for hauling all my crap from track to track on Drag and Drive events.

That being said, good bushings, good appropriately sized leaf spring packs, and Calvert or Assassin traction bars with.......... GOOD shocks front and rear get my vote.

While not directly related to the discussion, are you bringing it out to the Halloween Classic this week?

Re: leaf spring vs trailing arm

Hey - I'd be curious to learn more about that rear suspension set-up... I do a lot of drag and drives with my 72 trailing arm truck and am always looking for better options!
