I'd suggest one step further if this is your first LS and you have the luxury of a running donor, before you pull the motor, do the VATS delete, disconnect the engine harness from the truck but not the engine, find the 1 wire you need to put power to for ignition and start the motor. Once you have that you can pull the engine, pile all the ugly donor harness, fuse box and ecu on the inner fenders and have a running driving truck. Then you can either start to thin out and reroute the factory harness or install and debug an aftermarket harness knowing you have a working starting point.
