oil pump gasket
Hello,
Does anyone know where to get the gasket for the oil pump. 1965 c10 250 engine Its the gasket that does over the cover plate where the gears are. I found it in the rebuild kit which is retailing for about $54, however I just need the gasket and on a budget. at $54 that's more then the cost fo a new oil pump minus the pickup. Pump and pickup are about $80. If there is a cheap option for the gasket that's what I'm looking for. Also, when dismantling there was no gasket on the bottom of the pump where it attaches to the block, that I can find but curious as to why that was missing? I'm assuming its also a necessary gasket. |

Re: oil pump gasket
Spoke with Melling, they do not sell the gasket separately. Only with the rebuild kit which costs as much as the fuel pump. So got off my cheap A** and bought new.
thanks |

Re: oil pump gasket
I don't think I've ever seen a " factory " styled pump that actually used that gasket. And have never blue printed a pump. With one in place. ( although this is in reference to Chevy/Pontiac V8 engines. Possibly the inline 6 stuff is different. )
Make sure you verify/correct, the gear to pump cover clearance. If you run the gasket on a pump. That was not intended to run one. Same goes for the pump to rear main cap. Just because the aftermarket makes " extra " stuff. Doesn't mean it is necessary, or even needed. Last edited by Grounded63; 10-20-2025 at 03:59 PM. |
