sideswiped!

Hey fellas. I got sideswiped last sunday. Looking for advice. The front and rear fender need to be replaced. It's a rat truck, I'm really trying to keep the patina. 1968 C10 vermilion. Im trying to find used fenders with patina but not having much luck in this color. My thought is replace the front completely and just have about the last foot or so of the rear welded in. i'm up for suggestions. Can they match the look (fairly close) with new metal?
thanks!
steve

yes and no. I'm in Austin Tx. Cruising at 60 in the right hand lane. The fella that hit me was going about 100. It felt like a bomb went off next to me. I originally thought it was a catastrophic suspension failure or something. It threw be around the cab. when i looked up he was speeding off. passed 2 exits trying to run. then his car broke down. All on the highway. The cops showed up. He didn't have insurance. AND the cops didn't even cite him for no insurance. Luckily Hagerty is stepping up.
crime pays in Austin Tx i guess.

Sorry, no vermillion around here. Glad the police caught the dork. I hope you are made right. That's a lot of damage.

Re: sideswiped!

Man that sucks. The door and fender look like an easy fix, but that bed doesn't look easy at all. Welding in a new rear panel is how I would approach it too. Or maybe try some scratch remover. I'm sure it will buff right out. lol. Hope you get it all squared away. Keep us posted!

Re: sideswiped!

.

That could have been way worse. The guy was probably admiring your truck and drove right into it....such a shame that. Hagerty will do you right on the repairs/replacements.

Re: sideswiped!

Hagerty was pretty good to work with when my Camaro got hit. Good luck to you. Vermillion is pretty uncommon color as you likely know.

Re: sideswiped!

What a bummer, glad you are ok. These trucks were not designed with a lot of safety features.

I think if insurance is available to help you could seek out an expert that could match that patina. Especially since they have an entire truck to compare the work to. I think it would be worth a try, it sure is a nice truck.

Re: sideswiped!

I always thought that the paint shops, with the technology that they have , can match any color. The talent arises when you have to maintain the look that you want. Good luck.
