Rare 69 model

Just learned that my C10/Custom is actually a Silverado 1500!

AND the one on Fakebook has the ultra rare 700R4 experimental pre-production 4 speed automatic transmission with overdrive. Too bad it didn't come with the Corvette engine also, that would have been just too COOL.

Re: Rare 69 model

They made more Corvette engines than Corvettes. Gotta put those engines somewhere, why not in some farm trucks?

What's the black box on the seat?
Note the DeLuxe Hi-Fi with dual 6x9 speakers And 4'' tweeters in custom door panel mountings!
At least they reckon 250,000 miles, not ''50,000 original miles.'' Because they don't know there's no 6th digit column.

Re: Rare 69 model

According to the glove box sticker it came with a heavy duty clutch, but noticed it has no clutch pedal, but does look to have an original 71-72 automatic tilt column in it, which may be a plus depending as to how you look at it, would be to me.

I notice that a lot of older vehicle ads have that problem. A couple of ads I have looked at the seller states that Marketplace requires a choice be made but have no choices for the older vehicles....

Re: Rare 69 model

It actually looks relatively unmolested. I've see trucks in much worse condition. Paint may be original, which means it's not hiding bondo. We don't know what the frame and suspension parts look like, but the truck might be a solid platform to work from.

Did you guys notice in the side view photo that the rear wheels look like they're a little forward in the wheel well? The fronts look like they're back a little, too, but maybe they're OK.

Yeah, that definitely looks fishy. Hard pass.

Yes this is absolutely true I've experienced it myself. The people that created Marketplace are not car people so they do not care. It's even worse when you look at more obscure models or defunct brands. So knowing this i don't let the model description bother me & let the rest of the ad speak for itself.

Looks correct for a coil spring truck. Leaf sprung trucks are more centered in the rear wheel wells

Re: Rare 69 model

I just played around with entering a 69 truck for sale. The things I had to select from a list were body style ("truck" and about 10 others), mileage, interior and exterior colors, and auto or manual trans. Also vehicle condition and fuel type. Everything else was free-form including C10.

So in this case, the seller had to manually enter Silverado and 1500.

So you think they butchered a Long Bed?

Re: Rare 69 model

Just last night wife showed me a 1951 GMC Sierra for sale. I had to laugh.

I did notice this. This is likely from taking the picture on a phone camera and selecting the ".5" zoom out option. We shortened a lwb truck and then I took some side view pics, but I was so close that I did the .5 zoom out and the pics turned out the same way. Kind of gave it a fish eye affect, and made it look like a botched job. I had to go back to the shop and do a double take to make sure it was good.

This truck is a beaut. I'd love to have it as a starting point, or even a patina cruiser.
