Thanks! It photographs nice, but there are definitely imperfections. But I'm happy because it's all one color, structurally sound, and there is no more rust.

Re: Roostre's 1967 C20

Tonight I went out, unmasked the truck, and began reassembly. It may not be for everyone, but I'm really happy with the satin red oxide and Navajo White color combination. Hopefully I'll be able to continue reassembly later this week. Enjoy the pictures!

Thanks. Yes, the bumpers will be the same Navajo White as the rest of the white trim.

I do too. I'm also glad I went with the white roof, I think it breaks up the red a little bit.

Re: Roostre's 1967 C20

The reassembly continues. Over lunch, I installed the tail lights and back up lights. Note in the picture that someone did a crappy shave of the tailgate. I was going to remove the plate they did it with, but I'm worried that the tailgate is in rough shape under it, so I just left it and painted it. I'll keep looking for a better tail gate and may replace it someday. Also, I left the hasp that someone welded onto the tailgate. I could have removed it, but felt like it is part of the truck's story and adds to the rough around the edges theme. The guy that I bought the bed as part of a trailer from made sure to point out the hasp saying that it's nice to be able to lock your trailer.

I also had a little more time and installed the passenger fender emblem just to see what it looks like. I like it.

Oh, and I sprayed a quick coat of black paint on my inner fenders to get them ready for reinstallation, but didn't get a picture of them.

Re: Roostre's 1967 C20

More progress today. I put the rest of the trim on the grill. I have to say that of all the stuff I've done to this truck, installing the trim surrounding the grill openings was the worst. The grill is bent up and the trim is bent up, so nothing really fits. I bought new hardware thinking it would help me, but it did not. That wasn't the fault of the new hardware, it's just that the spring clip studs don't want to stay in place well. It probably would have gone better had I taken the grill off the truck to install the trim, but at least it's done and seems secure. I'm liking the Navajo White with the red better all the time. Here are a few pictures.

Re: Roostre's 1967 C20

Last night I reinstalled my window track felts and put the doors back together. I also reinstalled the mirrors. They are aftermarket mirrors that look like 60's GM car mirrors. I'm not sure I like them, but they'll work for now.

Today for lunch I reinstalled my grill support, hood latch, and hood bumpers. I also reinstalled the driver's side fender badge.

Finally, I painted my front bumper. It now matches the rest of the trim. Here are a couple of pictures, before and after.

It really is, thanks. I'm hoping to get it on the road a little bit before the snow flies, but it's sounding less likely every day.

My '68 C/10 Stepside came with Factory West Coast Jr mirrors. I know they stick out like a baby elephant's ears, but they sure have rearward visibility covered. Nobody can sneak up on your Six O'Clock.
I call it ,,Mexican Radar''.

The mirrors that came on my truck were shot. The glass was clouded and the mounts were stripped out and loose. I grabbed the current ones and put them on. I don't remember being unhappy with them, but am not sure now. I really need to drive it for a while and see how annoying they really are.

If you saved all the metal parts, any glass shop can rebuild them.

I thought about rebuilding the mirrors. The local glass guy could definitely get me the glass part. Problem is that the frames are really rough. I've fixed some questionable parts on this truck, but these may be too far gone for me to try. I'll have to see how much the current ones annoy me, if I can find reasonable replacements, and how ambitious I am.

Re: Roostre's 1967 C20

You can find WC Jrs on the Parts Board.
I bought a set from some guy but they were Pre-'68, and didn't have the Swing-away/Snap Back action, so I got soaked.
Buyer Beware.
If I can find them, maybe you could use the frames from those? But I haven't seen that stuff for years...

I definitely have time to sort out the mirrors, I'm sure I'll find something I like. I may even be able to reposition the ones I have to make me happy. Thank you for the offer of parts, help like this is why I really like this forum!

Sure. Happy to help when possible. The many kindnesses shown me by other members of this Forum have led me to consider it more of a Brotherhood than just an auto forum.

Re: Roostre's 1967 C20

This afternoon I reinstalled my front bumper. I have to say that I really like the satin red and Navajo White combination. It's looking really good to me. With the exception of the inner fenders and rear bumper, the body is back together. I'm hoping to get the inner fenders back in this weekend, and the rear bumper will have to wait until spring because the replacement is still on my $400 truck bed trailer and it is buried in the shed for the winter.

I also reinstalled my fuel tank in the cab along with replacing all of the rubber fuel line. The line from the fuel pump to the carb was replaced with rubber at some point, and I don't like how it routes. So I ordered some 5/16 nickel-copper line and will replace most of the rubber with nickel-copper, leaving only a couple of inches for an inline fuel filter.

Now all I have left to do is reinstall the inner front fenders, reconnect the headlights and front markers, reinstall the interior, and get it running. I'm getting close!

Thank you, I'm very pleased with it. Now to finish up the interior and see if I can get it to run as decently as it looks.
