65 Stepside C10 (What is the widest tire/rim I can run)

I figure with the amount of torque I'm going to have I need/want to run the widest tire and rim possible. I was thinking at least a 275/60r15. Maybe 295. I want to stick with the white wheels, but I doubt the rear wheels on there now will support more than a 255. I think they are a 15x7, but I haven't measured them yet. Thanks in advance.

I have a set of 275/55ra7 in the rear on a 17x8 wheel and it is really close. I had to flair the lip of the fender to get them to fit. I have 275/50r17 up front. It also depends on how low your truck is. I have a 5 inch drop in the rear. It can also vary by truck. some fenders are a little smaller thinner than others and it can also depend on the lean of the bed side. I used to have a set of 275/60r15 with a 15x7 on the rear and they fit fine with no lip rolling.

Thanks for that info. I was planning on running 15x8 with 275/60r15 tires on the rear.

That should be fine but you might have to do a little massaging to keep it from rubbing a little. A lesson that I recently learned from trying to find the right wheel and tire combination for my Thunderbird is that you should buy one wheel and one tire and see if it fits. I bought a full set of wheels and tiers and they fit until I tried putting on the fender skirts and those would not work with the tires. I even bought the same width of tire that was on the car originally. Now I have to buy a hole new set of wheels.

Good idea. Is there a backspacing you guys recommend?

I think the 15x7 inch wheels I had before had a 4 in backspacing. The 17x8 that I am currently running are 4.5 inch backspacing.
