I did (and do) the same thing but I decided long ago not to get old.

Stained the front of the cabin up to the bottom of the upstairs window today, that sunbaked wood is really soaking up the stain except for behind the folding chairs that have been there for about a dozen years.

And yes, climbing up that ladder does seem a bit more difficult these days.
