Is this fender gap normal?

Hey all. Is this gap between the fender and the grill normal for a 1971 K10. It seems kind of big, but I had always assumed it was designed that way so that you could get your fingers in there to lift the hood.

Re: Is this fender gap normal?

your hood does look pushed back too far...mine isn't perfect alignment with the fender, but there is a slight differentiation allowing a gap between the front of the hood and the grille surround.

both. the grille looks pushed too hard into the fender (there should be a bit of a gap). Also, it appears if the entire grille were removed, then the fender to hood should be a more seamless fit.

Oh yeah, good point. I bet the fender is a bit forward too.

Here's mine using the original fenders, hood, cowl panel, and NOS grille shell. These never fit all that great. This assembly took hours to get here. There is a slight gap between the hood and grille shell, and between the grille shell and fender. It will be difficult to get even a reasonable fit if any of those parts are aftermarket. The aftermarket fenders really suck at the grille area.

Thanks. That’s helpful. So my grill is definitely pressed too tight to my fenders, my hood is too far back, and my fenders are too far forward. So everything needs to move. Not just one part. I think I’ll start with centering my door inside shell on the cab and go from there. Thanks!

Re: Is this fender gap normal?

Don’t forget the fender to door gaps will be affected when you adjust these
