Smile G'day from W.A.

That's Western Australia not Washington State fellas

I am a 59 year old automobile addict and this is my latest acquisition - a 1957 Chevy 3100 NAPCO pick up - it needs a LOT of work and seeing as its my first truck I am going to have a LOT of stupid questions

I have owned several Chevys in the past , I still have a '46 Fleetline Aerosedan and I have previously built a '57 Sports coupe and a '64 Belair sedan - factory RHD car.

Should be a cool rig. Did you pick it up there or did you have to have it shipped?

Re: G'day from W.A.

thats a cool looking truck. it screams "get outta my way". lol. I'm not a lifted 4x4 kinda guy but that stance looks good. I think too many 4x4 guys have too much tire for the size of the truck when talking old iron. it must be fun getting into that cab though, haha.

It wont be staying that high mate, it has a 2" body lift kit that will be coming out and the tyres are currently 35" and I will end up using 33" so that will drop it 3" in total. I am getting too old to clamber into it when its way up there .......

We'll be expecting more pictures, as we do love pictures, especially Napco pictures.

Been here permanently now for 22 years. Prior to that I would do the Sydney to LA trip multiple times a year buying performance parts.

Am retired now....sort of....

Re: G'day from W.A.

That 70's GMC motorhome sounds interesting but in reality, the likelyhood of finding one thats safe enough to do the big loop is non existent.

Interstates here are plentiful, but distances are vast...consider New York to Los Angeles is like driving from Cairns to Perth....it is a big place.

There are approx 10 times as many people over here to Australia, so things can get crazy congested sometimes.

If you have a hankering to see the place, pick your priorities and make a wish list. Weather is also a concern,,,,tonight I am expecting 2-4 inches of snow here near Pittsburg PA.

Just some things to consider...Bill

Re: G'day from W.A.

I'm a Sydney boy originally , my parents are still in the Sutherland shire and my uncle used to own Hardimans performance parts in Beverly Hills back in the 80's.

We bought a 46 Fleetline Aero in Salt Lake City a few years back and roadtripped it for a month down to San Diego then up to San Francisco on the ocean road, back to LA then stuck it in a container and brought it back to Perth - people on Chevytalk were going bonkers saying you cant drive an old car that far "out in the middle of nowhere"

Re: G'day from W.A.

My grand dad lived in Beverly Hills until he passed.

I grew up in Villawood, western suburbs Sydney....typical westy at heart.

I used to buy from Hardimans performance....its a very small world indeed.

Stay safe old mate

Let me know if you need anything. I am on here a couple times a day as I am a Moderator on the Engine Transmission section and LS sections.
