post 4 makes a good point in at least checking the local GM dealer for an engine price. I have installed many of these over the years and never had a comeback or warranty issue. there are a few things on the list to also include in the price, stuff that makes sense from a warrantee perspective, like replacing oil cooler in rad, oil cooler lines, etc. this is because some engines grenaded and so these parts may have metal fragments stuck inside. some shops say they "thoruoghly clean" oil coolers etc. i actually cut apart an oil cooler from inside the rad, after i had 'thoruoghly cleaned" it, and found it contained some shrapnel. definately not worth the risk when you think about the cost of the engines these days.
anyway, it's worth checking. ask for the performance parts catalogue or look online for a link to it. there are several engines available in various HP configurations
