I don't usually post no title rigs unless they are obviously parts rigs but will make the exception for this 55 Burb in Molalla, ORegon Molalla, OR

Here is one in Lyndon Wa that looks like a pretty nice mixed bag pile of parts that could make a nice truck . https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...Anull%7D%22%7D

What looks like a 49or 50 cab with 51 doors, A few rough spots but pretty solid looking .

Re: Post your C/L - Facebook finds for everyone to enjoy!

I see a lot off possibilities in those pictures. At my age, 84, I won't be restoring any more trucks but I still like to look at the pictures and imagine what I would do if I could. I have a 96 Silverado now, bought not built. I'm happy that Georgia didn't have a title law until 1963. I have had about a dozen trucks that were older than 63 models so never had to deal with titles with them. I just used a BOS and the tag registration if I ever needed it.

It isn't too difficult here in Washington state with a good bill of sale and documentation that you legally obtained the other major parts. It's been a while but I heard about a guy with a high dollar street rod who got turned down because he had no documentation as to where he had legally obtained the major parts although they were obviously very spendy parts. Word was that he didn't keep any receipts because he didn't want his wife to know how much he spent although he had probably 50 K in it. I think he finally got it resolved but no one fools their wife on what they spent anyhow.

I have a 3 ring binder with plastic page savers for each project I have that I put receipts or bills of sale for major parts, copies of the original add on FB or Craigslist or ??? (yup I paid 600 dollars because that is what they had i for sale for in the add).
Simple documentation that shows I legally obtained each major component and where I got it. That includes a copy of the title and the paperwork from the scrap yard I sold the hulk to for the engine, trans adn rear for one project that has been on the back burner way too long. I usually stick a where and how I found it and bought it photo or two including finding it at a swap meet. it doesn't cost much to have photos printed out at the places you can still get them printed and they don't have to be put it in a frame quality to go in the build book.

Re: Post your C/L - Facebook finds for everyone to enjoy!

I haven't gone quite that far. I do have the bill of sale and receipts for just about everything I have purchased for the truck. They are all in file folder organized by year.
Maybe it's time I re did all of this and put it into binders & page savers

Re: Post your C/L - Facebook finds for everyone to enjoy!

Saved and organized is good. I always figured that a build book could go with the truck/car and even if info wasn't needed to ge it pass inspection things like belt and hose numbers and specific parts you used would be useful to you or someone else on down the road. If you follow FB AD truck groups there is always someone who bought a running driving truck who has no clue as to what pieces are actually on the truck.

'59 is out of my wheelhouse, but this looks like a pretty cool, if not a bit pricey, Suburban.

Re: Post your C/L - Facebook finds for everyone to enjoy!

As you know better than the rest of us anything old in SoCal automatically has and asking price 40% higher than anywhere else in the country including the rust belt.

To me 17K is a fly in, throw your duffle in the back and drive it home with out a fear price and not a bring your trailer and tow rig and haul it home. I can see 10K just because of what you don't have to deal with and that is rust. I don't see any sigh of it anywhere and it won't hide under a ten year old paint job on a 58 it will do the here I come look at me right here on the fender and the bottom of the door.

Unless there is a lot of bondo in it, the value is in the danged nice body to start a build with.

Still the wrong seat and steering wheel that will eat your hands until they hurt (got one hanging on the wall in a shed) are deducts to me. Easily changed.

Unless he has the Arizona title in his name and just moved recently the Arizona antique plate screams flipper who got a deal on it and is trying to double his money.

Re: Post your C/L - Facebook finds for everyone to enjoy!

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. You may be right about an attempt to flip; in his description, the seller acknowledges he doesn't know much about some key components of the truck. I'm partial to old 'Burbs and this one popped up a couple of days ago. Have seen very few of this era, so decided to post for forum interest. Ultimately, as with most things, the truck is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Hopefully, it finds a happy home at a fair price.

It seems odd there are no pictures of the engine compartment or any any pictures of the undercarriage unless I missed something.

Re: Post your C/L - Facebook finds for everyone to enjoy!

I like TF suburbans. This price is up there, but if you wanted to build a nice one a truly rust free starting part could be worth the cost.

But I spotted some huge red flags on this one. First clue is the lack of pictures of the common rust areas. 2nd clue is some marks on both headlight brows that look at lot like rust digging through bondo. Stepping through the video yielded these:

if anyone is thinking about this one ask for more pictures before investing in travel.

Re: Post your C/L - Facebook finds for everyone to enjoy!

Good eye lee. One reason that when I am looking for project rigs I would rather see the worn out original factory paint rather than the results of a half dozen paint jobs over the years. I think I need to go see about getting a new pair of glasses.

Re: Post your C/L - Facebook finds for everyone to enjoy!

The seller says it is 55/57 but the frame says it is 60's short box step side in Zillah Wa. It looks like a bring your own tires and wheels deal. The price up there but it looks pretty decent.

Still a real straight TF to late 60's stepside box and fenders with just a tad bit of rust. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...type=top_picks

I don't usually like to post trucks that are this spendy but this time the 20 K might be in what you don[t have to do as it looks to be a very solid Burb with all the extra frufru and a V8 and automatic already in it. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...Anull%7D%22%7D

"Wheels and Sargent stripes sold separately for $3500". What is he referring to here?

Re: Post your C/L - Facebook finds for everyone to enjoy!

the chrome stripes on the fenders. They are rare and valuable, no doubt about that
not sure what is special about the wheels

posting tricky pricing and edited pictures sounds warning bells for me. But as mr48chev said, if you want to build suburban this price should not be too off putting and it would be worth finding out more. But I'd not buy this one sight unseen

I have spent a lot of time on the forum but I never never heard those called sargent stripes. I always liked those on AD's and probably would want a set if i ever got a truck to put them on. Not likely now due to my age, though.

I took it that he would pull the sergeants strips and wide whites off for that price. I'm not big on the fru fru nonsense but on that rig taking it off to sell it separate reduces the value by about half.

The 7 bar grill makes me wonder if they didn't have a grill in with the bars closer together at one time and adding bars in what would be a tedious project. The other photo shows a regular grill so he photoshop thing may be in effect.

I sent the seller a question asking for clarification on the grill.

Or a starting point to hot rod from.
if it is as nice as it looks in the pictures the is price probably not bad

Re: Post your C/L - Facebook finds for everyone to enjoy!

LOL the "rare long bed thing. To me on that truck it is a deduction price wise over an identical short bed truck but all in all you cannot match that truck for 15,900 today if you are paying for the work on it. You might be hard pressed to match it by buying a real solid truck and doing your own work.

Not cheap but dang, they will let you park up front at the Saturday Rod trot or at Cars and Coffee with it and all you should have to do is put gas in it and drive it. One could work a fly in and drive home thing without a lot of hassles too. Especially if you were able to fly into Everett rather than Seattle. Catch a taxi to the Mukilteo ferry terminal Ride across to Clinton and have the seller pick you up at Clinton or get and Uber to where they are. Then either take the ferry back or go up the island and across the Deception pass Bridge to Anacortes and beyond.

There are not many long bed stepsides out there driving around these days.
I'm not sure what production numbers actually were back in the 50s,but even back in the 80s I was not seeing many long beds from that era.

That's 13,165.20 in US dollars today 02-25-22. Honest price for an S-10 swap truck that looks to be set up pretty well. Great truck for a guy who cares more about driving it than what it might be worth later.
