Did all front bumpers for 1967-1968 C10 have bumper guards? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I would like to know if all front bumpers for 1967-1968 C10 trucks have bumper guards? Were they on only the painted ones or chrome bumpers or did it just depend on the person ordering the truck? I am assuming there would be holes in the front of the bumper in that location on all 67-68 truck where the guards should mount whether it came with guards or not?

Can anybody post a pic off their 67-68 original bumper with or without guards?

Mine has no guards and never did. There are no holes in the bumper either.

No, they didn't all come with bumper guards. I'm old enough to remember when these trucks were brand new.
Where I live in Canada I almost never saw front bumper guards on these trucks.

They were pretty rare in my neck of the woods too. There are probably more 67-72s with bumper guards now, than when they were leaving the factory.

I worked for Chevy dealers from '70 until '72, on and off. Very few trucks had bumper guards. In fact, not many cars did, either. It's like skunk stripes, "SS" and "Z-28" ID on a lot of cars, many more than came from the factory.

Now ...I want to know if the front bumper guards were a check the box factory option or a dealer add on option. Just curious.

A little digging yields-

V31: Front Bumper Guards (chrome)
V32: Rear Bumper Guard
V30: Front and Rear Bumper Guards (likely bundled option)

they were dealership accessories you could get through the dealerships parts department.

Front bumper guards did not need any additional holes in the bumper. The top clipped over the bumper and the bottom used a factory bumper bolt.

No, they didn't all come with bumper guards. I'm old enough to remember when these trucks were brand new.
