Center AC Vent Issue

Life got in the way for a few years, but I am now back to reassembling my 70 GMC. I am working on putting interior parts back in the cab before setting it back on the frame. I've ran into an issue with my center AC vent. It was a factory AC truck, and I'm quite sure the vent is OEM. The issue is that my chrome vent is two pieces instead of just one. I'm guessing that I am missing some kind of clips that held the two pieces together, but don't have anything that looks like it would work. Can someone either tell or show me what I am missing? And more importantly are these available separately? Thanks for any help.

I will run out and take a look at one of mine. I think the plastic frame is just staked over the round pivots on each end.

EDIT: I went out and looked and it looks like there is a small piece of black plastic over the top of the pivots, and then the plastic is heat swedged over the top of those in four places.

Re: Center AC Vent Issue

Thanks for the picture and explanation. Guess I'll look for a replacement.

If you have a friend with a 3D printer, they should be able to make a couple of small parts for you in no time.

You could just drill a hole in the middle of a plastic rectangle. Cut it in half and you'll have both

Re: Center AC Vent Issue

Decent reproductions sell for around $30 if you can't fix your OEM one.
