I was either assigned to or launched product in about a dozen GM assembly plants over a 40 year period (starting in 1979).

When I was visiting, and we had some downtime, I would ask my host "hey - show me the paint shop". Or "hey - show me where they put the VINs on".

They were always happy to oblige and show off a bit. I wasn't being manipulative - I sincerely wanted to know. And it helped me understand the overall assembly process and how it might apply to the mid 60's process (Pontiac Michigan in particular).

I was Glad that I was introduced to Auto mechanics at a Young age.

I jumped off the School bus and Hindered the man that rented a Shop from my Daddy.
He would get me to be the brake pedal pump it up and let off.

I built engines and was reading micrometers before I was of Legal driving age because of this guy and my Daddy and Grandpa.

With being raised around 3 Great mechanics.

I never imagined learning so much More about a vehicle as I did working in that Assembly plant.

I seen things from a whole different view and was involved in some of the improvement teams over the years I was employed there.
