16 inch rims for a 68 C10 6 lug

Hey!

I am shopping around for tires and rims. Currently have 15x7s on the truck now and was thinking about going to 16s. Any suggestions on where to get some good rims?

Thanks

Depending on what you want. Just about any 6 lug will work.i used some old 16x8 wagon wheels that I ran on my 02 silverado. I use a spare from my 2010 tacoma 16x6.5. I even tried the 17x8 lexus gx 470 wheels that i am using on my tacoma. .

6x5.5 or 6x139.7 for the metric side. Only thing to watch on some later model wheel is center bore size, especially on allot rims. Not sure of actual measurement, but you'll be able to tell. I know most gm, ford, and dodge of the 60s thru 90s, maybe later should fit. Most tacomas, tundra and lexus gx model with 6 lug have a large enough center bore

Re: 16 inch rims for a 68 C10 6 lug

My 68 C10 has drums on all 4 corners. I have a 01 GMC Sierra and it has 6 lug rims. Would a set of rims from a 99-07 GMC Sierra work? What about back spacing?

Thanks!

Re: 16 inch rims for a 68 C10 6 lug

I used the 16 inch wheels off a 2012 Chevy Trailblazer, but they had a negative offset, so I had some very expensive 90mm spacers made. I was quite happy with the result at the time.

Does anyone know what the offset will be for a 4 way drum setup for a 68 C10?

Ideally you want the offset to be zero, or negative (more towards the outside).
I believe my wheels have either a +35mm or +50mm offset (placing them towards the inside)
The tyres are relatively narrow (245/70R16) compared to what most people who change the wheels run, and still rubbed the wheel well in the front when I turned the steering wheel too far, therefore the spacers.
My truck is not running at the moment (long story), and the rotors on the front are about 10mm more towards the outside than stock drum rotors, but look at the difference between the front wheel with no spacer at the moment vs the rear wheel with a 90mm spacer.

This is what I have on my 01 GMC Sierra. Was looking for something like this for the 68 C10. https://www.ebay.com/itm/16799292359...Bk9SR7SararqZg

Re: 16 inch rims for a 68 C10 6 lug

I had some 16x8 aluminum rims my friend kicked off his '99 K/1500 GMC Suburban. [He didn't like the look -- ''too Blingy''].
To mount them on my '71 GMC Jimmy [w/ rear drum brakes], I had to install 2'' wheel adaptors. Six lug. They bolt onto the axles, then the rim is bolted onto the adaptor.
Worked fine, until I heard a weird metallic ticking in my drivetrain. Paranoid, I pulled the adaptors and installed the old 33x12.50x15LT ''meats'' from before. Ticking however, was from my front Carden prop shaft disintegrating. Adaptors, Bling rims and tires were fine.
[I have since mounted the bling rims and 235/75/R16 tires on my 2003 Tahoe.]

Re: 16 inch rims for a 68 C10 6 lug

I tried a set of OBS 6 lug wheels on my 69 short step and the center hole is not big enough for the pilot to go through. So Toyota may work, but the GM wheels didn’t for me.

Re: 16 inch rims for a 68 C10 6 lug

Thanks for all of the information. Can anyone suggest a place to pick up 4 16x7 rally rims for a truck with drum/drum setup?

Curious if these would work.

Take a look on FB Marketplace. Rallies are fairly common in the Bay Area
AFAIK, drums always fit, it's the disks that are a PITA
