Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I'm doing a project with wood and metal. The metal part is going to be leaves. I bought some pinking shears at a local store, and my wife showed me how to make curved cuts to make the leaves. I can make curved cuts with regular tin snips, though. I want leaves with ridges. I learned something today.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Got ready for this incoming winter storm. Weather guesser says 8-12 inches of the white stuff along with sub-zero wind chills. Yuck, not a fan of winter, spent too many years working outside. Filled our indoor wood box to the brim, stacked and covered some more firewood out side on the back deck. Topped off both Tahoes, made a grocery store run for a few things. Will get out tomorrow afternoon fir a Dr. appointment and wife is making chilli for supper tomorrow night, taco soup Saturday night and ham and beans with cornbread for Sunday. May have a Crown or two while tending to the fireplace.

Stay safe and warm everyone in the path of this winter storm. Weather guesser may actually be right with this one being a "nasty winter storm weekend"

All I can say is no smoking or open flames while you're hunkered down in the house for the storm.

Will see how it all works out as I just lit the fireplace. We topped out at 14 just before noon today. Headed downward and is now 11 above, with the wind factored in it feels like a -8 already. Come on Spring !

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Figured I needed another project. 12 degrees and 20 mph wind, or I could have waited until it warmed up to the mid 20s next week but with snow on the ground. It actually went better than I thought it would.

Same here, the high yesterday was minus 2 and today is a repeat. Minus 20 right now, BUT we aren't getting the snow this time, so there is a silver lining. I'm certain we will get more before May. We've had blizzards in March and April the past few years. I brought my '69 C10 home from Oklahoma last March in a blizzard.
Indoor car event today called the Bow Tie Brunch. ALL Chevrolet clubs and fans get together in Farmington, MN, talk cars, warm weather and cruising, Back to the Fifties, etc. We will have a demonstration of determining pinion angle to weld a trans cross member in a'56 Chev chassis that has been modified for C-4 Corvette running gear. Catered Mexican food and everyone needs to leave before the refried beans start exploding...

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

62c30, like that 57, looks like a pretty good starting place with the way the body looks. What's the interior like, any rot on the floor pans? Looks to be a 210 model. Any engine and trans combo still installed?

Always interested in a tri-five being brought back to life. Real piece of American classic iron.

3 above when I got up this morning, looks to be about 1 1/2'' of white stuff on the ground. More forecasted thru the weekend till Monday.

The guy I bought it from didn't really know anything about it. He inherited it from his dad and was his dad's first car. I think I'm only the 3rd owner of it. The car is mostly complete but the interior is trashed but the frames are there. I'll learn more about it if it ever warms up.

I'm more than ready for it to warm up. Hate being cooped up in the house, not a sit and watch the tube guy. Ready to take my '57 out for a cruise but at the moment with current weather not quite the time. Thread of my '57 is in the alternate tinkering section if want to look.

Good luck with your tri-five project when it warms up.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Just want to add this....Bill of Sale or have in your possession a correct title for the sale? Match the title VIN to the factory attached VIN on the driver's side A pillar at mid windshield height. Factory attached by spot weld at two places. The VIN plates WERE NOT attached with rosette pop rivets as in later years. Would not proceed with the restore until the title and attached VIN match. Just a buyer beware tid bit of info. Good luck with the restore

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Got my old John Deere 318 in the garage and and ready for clearing snow tomorrow. It's had the chains, wheel weights, and 54" 4 way hydraulic blade on for a couple months now.

Picked up as close a match to the original seat that I could find, but the holes weren't even close. 4 nutserts later and it's mounted with no drilling of the original mounting plate, plus I adjusted it for a bit more space between the wheel and the seat. Anyone who's ever had a 300 series will appreciate the extra room

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

No right rear running light on the Tacoma figured it was a bulb but no such luck the pin in the connector rotted away with lots of green corrosion. Thought I was going to have to replace the connectors but then I thought why not just bypass the one . Works great now and took no time to speak off .

Beautiful drill press! Mine has never failed me. Have no idea how old it is, but I think I got it used in the late 70's, early 80's.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

If I found a 57 like that I would dump everything else and make that my end of days project. My first car was a 57 and I had several other tri fives in my early years, none nice though haha!
