rams horn manifolds

I am putting together a 67 k10 chassis. I plan on using a 325 hp. 327 with the 700r4 trans and power steering. Don't really want it lifted so we will consider it stock height.
I would like to use the rams horn exhaust manifolds. I see that speedway motors has enlarged manifolds with 2 1/2" collectors. These point straight down. They don't recommend them on 4x4's.
So, I found a set of stock dimension rams horns with the angled, towards the back, collectors. These too say they are recommended for two wheel drives.
If it's going to be a problem, I could go with the regular manifolds or headers.
But I am curious the hear what youz guys have to say about this

Re: rams horn manifolds

A high RPM SBC in a 400lb 4x4 brick doesn't sound like a fun combo.

Re: rams horn manifolds

You should be fine with the straight dump manifolds on a 4x4, I assume the engine is in the correct location?

Yep, 4x4 uses straight dump rams horns.

Re: rams horn manifolds

Franken
You are right about that. I've had this small journal 327 staring at me for a few years.
It's just itching to go into something. I have a 56 chevy project coming up that it would be fun in but there is a 450 horse 396 sitting next to it.
Maybe I should rethink this and put a 350 in the truck. Engine crossmember is using the rear mounting holes.
But I still like the rams horn manifolds.

Re: rams horn manifolds

I have a set of the manifolds, or similar, you're referencing to on my '70 4wd Blazer.
I got mine from Summit but I'm sure it's probably the same ones.
They work just fine. Mine has a 350 turbo automatic transmission.

Re: rams horn manifolds

I ordered the set from Speedway. 2 1/2". Easy to cut the brackets off if you don't want them. At $137 a pair it was an easy choice.
