and the improvements continue
So I've now checked off 3 more items on my to do list
Had rear springs rebuilt. I found a broken center bolt in the left rear spring and knowing they were really old, I had a local shop rebuild them, they are now installed. Replaced the tail shaft seal on the trans. Had an exhaust leak. found out that one of the 3 studs that holds the pipe to the manifold had broken, Heated it up and managed to un screw it and replaced it. While I was doing that I also replaced both front motor mounts. Now I'm waiting for the rear fenders to come back from the body shop.

Re: and the improvements continue
So after all this work, I had to take a drive. Took off down a local highway and I wont say how much I exceeded the speed limit by, but the truck drove much better.
Now on to other items on my list. Being retired has its advantages.
