starter wire question
just got a new starter for my 350 and im wondering where the yellow wire and purple wire go or does it matter

Hmmmmm
The purple wire goes to the 'S' terminal on your solenoid coil.....if you are looking straight at the solenoid coil there is a big bolt for the + battery cable, to the right should be a small bolt....that should be the 'S' terminal for the ignition switch. the yellow wire I think is for point ignition only. if so thats all I know right now...I forget were stuff goes....If you have a electric ignition the distributer needs to run straight to the ignition switch. Find the dist. wire from the back of the ignition switch, cut it and splice a wire from it back to the BAT. terminal on the distributer. Be sure to connect both parts of the cut wire to the added wire. You can run the wire from any of the holes that are drilled from the fire wall into the dash.
Im not sure but that yellow wire might be the temp. switch wire. If I didn't help or if i just mistook a bunch of stuff Sorry!!!

The purple wire is indeed for the "S" terminal. The yellow is for points ignitions (runs from the "R" terminal to the positive terminal on the coil).

Definetly put the purple to the s terminal. The yellow wire is for putting 12V to the coil during starting only, once the key moves from start to run then you only have approx 9V on the coil.
For HEI disregard the above.

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm
