Helper air bags placement

I am heavily leaning into the idea of lowering my truck more when I replace the motor I wounded, but my helper air bags will not to keen on the idea.

They are placed outboard above the axle to provide maximum stability, and unfortunately the set up can not be dropped any more.

So which option do you guys like the best when towing or hauling stuff around.

Move the bags in board on the frame and use drop mounts to get suspension travel

Or

Move the air bags over the leaf springs and have them staggered opposite of the shocks?

Re: Helper air bags placement

What spring/shock setup do you have currently, and how much lower are you wanting to go? I ran 4" HD drop springs and 2" blocks in the rear, which got me as low as you could go without needing a C-notch. The 4" HD springs were intentional because I still wanted to haul things occasionally. I mention this option because maybe you don't even need the helper bags if you go HD springs. I was able to load the bed to its max rated capacity with no problems.

I have took about 2/3rds out of a C20 65" pack to make my rear springs. To which I added a axle flip, and flipped the rear shackle. Combined with drop axle mounts for the shocks.

Its rides quite nice and sporty, and handles a few hundred pounds very well. Just when I get a engine or 2 in back. It needs the bags for sure.

Re: Helper air bags placement

If the springs & shocks work fine as-is unloaded, locate the bags where they fit. If putting them inboard gets it done & is easiest, then that works. If not, the staggered arrangement would work too.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
