1 3/4 headers

Right now I have a 79 suburban and looking to add headers. Doesnt have to be long tube I am down with shorties. Looking to stay 1 3/4 tubes but everything I find is 1 5/8.

My burb is lowered some but nothing crazy (2.5 drop spindles), I know on my 70 c1500 everyone said a body chevelle headers as they tuck better for a lower truck. Do those fit the 73 up better as well? I am getting ready to install the chevelle headers soon on my 70 had to get a different trans crossmember and its at the powder coater. I am happy to do the same to my burb if they fit the best but wasnt sure with the 73 up differences.

Attaching a pic of the burb as well

Re: 1 3/4 headers

its basically the same chassis without the trailing arm crossmember. i would think Chevelle headers would fit well

why the need for 1.3/4 are you building a big cube sbc? most likely the 3/4 will cost you power.

I have 1 3/4 on a 406 11.5-1 motor that spins 7500. everything else, 1 5/8

Its not holly crap but its a stout 350, rpm heads, cam, and a weiand 142.

My c10 is a 383 cam, heads, and going procharger.

Re: 1 3/4 headers

I would stay with the smaller primaries for street driving. There is a reason it is the most common sizes.

I have a 400+ ford and still runs the 5/8. the motor does not turn high RPM

1 3/4 will be fine, most your LS stuff is 1 3/4 or bigger. 1 5/8 has just been a thing for so long that its what people know and trust. Something around 500 hp 1 3/4 is a good size

This is why I was going 1 3/4 and my machine shop was saying the same.
