CST Horn Button Refurbishment

If you have a 67/68 CST with a pitted horn button ring or broken retainer tabs I can refurbish it for you. I reverse engineered the retainer ring and remake them out of nylon. I have the rings rechromed by a professional metal restoration shop. While disassembled I can cut and polish the center section to remove surface scratches.

Retainer replacement only - $60
Ring rechromed and retainer replacement - $180
Center cut and polished - $50

Shipping back to you should be the same cost as you spend to ship to me.

Sounds good, one thing I forgot to mention is that small casting lip at the bottom of the ring is sanded off so they look so much better when rechromed.

I figured I could help out some fellow truck guys. The only money I make is the cost for my labor to cut and polish. The other costs are what I pay, including shipping and taxes, for each item. Ten years ago I could get the rings rechromed for $50, now that's $100 plus tax and shipping each way to the restoration shop.

Re: CST Horn Button Refurbishment

Jared, glad!! to see you back on the board!! I have sold the '72, but i drive a 1986 sq body daily now. I have a build thread on here in the squarebody section. I hope things have been good for you these past years? I am located in Gilbert now. Hopefully we can try to catch up some time? (PM me if able). Good luck with the adventure on here... you always do really good work!

take care!

Re: CST Horn Button Refurbishment

There were several upgrades given to the '68s over the '67s, but it's a shame the CST horn button had to go. (Guess they had to offset the new cost somehow?) What a beautiful piece of GM jewelry! Glad to hear you're able to restore them--I'd be in line if mine were a '67.

Unfortunately I'm not aware of a process to repair the center piece. DM me some photos of what you have if you are interested in getting them refurbished.

Very glad to see you’re doing this! What a special piece, and hard to find. At one point I had about 20 of these in various conditions. Today I only have one mint original. I wish I had all the others still, I’d be sending them your way!!

Thanks! I wish it wasn't so expensive to rechrome potted metal, I'd buy up all the CST horn buttons I could find and restore them.
