Re: Time change

As the old Indian said,"Only a paleface would think that cutting off one end of a blanket and sewing it on to the other end would make it longer”.

The concept seems silly to me.... dunno how we survived growing up without it. I wish they would either implement DST year-round or do away with it completely.

It seems that’s what’s going to happen here in British Columbia.

Re: Time change

Retired, don't care. The only issue is I have to make sure which stores are open. Mostly not a problem unless I have a bacon emergency and the store ain't open yet.

I meant if that here wasn't any bacon in the house, and it was breakfast time! If that doesn't equal a bacon emergency, I don't know what does!

I get tired of taking the Rooster to the vet to get him re-calibrated so he will crow at the right time!

The best bacon you can get in Ca. https://smokedmeats.com/products/sliced-bacon I buy 5-10 lbs at a time and freeze it. A good friend of my brothers owns the place. Known him and family whille growing up. I get no discounts, but it is worth it.

I'm glad you posted this; I'm not 100% sure but I do believe I've been to this establishment for their Beef Jerky.
We did a Forest Service/Indian Reservation Building in Bishop several years ago and someone told me about the place; the jerky was to die for.

Anyway, I just ordered some bacon to try. Mmmm Bacon!

Re: Time change

Probably gotten jerky from there. Wife and kids went to one of the kid's friend's family to their cabin in Big Bear. They brought the jerky and sourdough bread back with them. I think it was moose jerky?

NOOOOOO! You don't even want any congress critter turning the national thermostat dial! Just imagine the back and forth on that dial. There'll be dogs and cats sleeping together, total Armageddon!

I didn't put together the Bishop thing. My first "real" job was in Bishop. I was 20 years old and landed a position as a Mortgage Loan Officer for Valley Federal Savings and Loan. First time on my own. The start of 44 years hanging paper. Those were some really fun times living there but it was only 2 years.

Re: Time change

My vote is for permanent Standard Time. I was a high school kid when the US did the permanent Daylight time in the early 70's. Sucked riding a bike to school in the cold dark often icy mornings. Kids going to school in the dark was one of the reasons it was quickly put back to the on-off thing we still have today. But a lot of things things then were tied to the tradition of 'bankers hours'. There might be more flexibility from some organizations on start-end hours.

Retired now but I do remember the advantage of having a few hours of light to do outside stuff after work.

On bacon, a deer processor near me started making venison bacon. Not exactly the same as pork bacon but good. Almost no shrinkage during cooking. Bonus, last batches were cheaper per pound then store bought pork bacon. Free range organic bacon, mmmm!
