Re: 68 C50 crew cab daily driver (capable)
So no updates except for I put a new fuel tank in today as I kept losing fuel pressure and when I’d crank the filter loose under the truck I’d hear it release a vacuum. Upon removing the tank it had more trash than I wanted to clean.
So after that for no good reason I brought this home

Re: 68 C50 crew cab daily driver (capable)
Well the “new” truck on the property is going to be sacrificed to make two crew cabs happen.
Mine has more rust than I want to fix in the cab so I’ll use the new one to be the crew cab and swap drivetrain when it’s ready. The front clip is going on a friends crew cab that’s on a late model dually chassis. Nice thing is with this new chassis the wheelbase is only off 3” so when I put the dually fenders on I’ll just offset them. Or maybe if I’m feeling spunky I’ll move the opening of the step side fender forward 3” to make the fender a little more symmetrical. Oh and the 3rd rusted burb is no more. Saved anything useful or of value and the rest is trash.

Re: 68 C50 crew cab daily driver (capable)
Well no real updates. Been using the truck though. But today I started cutting the bed down. Last week I took 3 feet off the back. Today took one side off, the other side tomorrow and then probably lower the center section to be a catwalk.
Trying to get it set up where I can haul my gooseneck Truck currently weighs 9750 according the the scrap yard. I want it in the low 8s

Re: 68 C50 crew cab daily driver (capable)
And the truck is down to around 8220 lbs.
left a fanny pack over the rear that measures 5x8 so I can still do truck things plus it covers the rear wheels. I figure that weight will equate to a real pickup box when I build it. Then the 30” of wheelbase I’ll be removing of double layered frame should be close the the weight of the extra cab metal. Really want to be at 8k lbs but close enough. So it’s at a good driver status right now. My buddy dropped off his crew cab for me to get the drivetrain put into, his is on a 2015 3500 chassis. All body and detail work is his problem. So that will keep me occupied for a little bit and put some cash towards my truck. Part of the deal is how I got the second c50.

Re: 68 C50 crew cab daily driver (capable)
Just going to leave this here since it’ll be a while before I have a crew cab C5

Re: 68 C50 crew cab daily driver (capable)
And first use of the gooseneck, light load but at 25’ long it wouldn’t have even worked with the 16’ flatbed it used to have.
So my theory of more space for loads, and only when I need it stands valid. Stopped by and got a couple of bed cuts to fill the gap between the cab and the bed I’m going to build. Will be a temporary solution until I get around to the crew cab aspect of it

Re: 68 C50 crew cab daily driver (capable)
Well just got back from vacation again. But got finished with the trailer the night before I left. Even put reverse lights on the trailer and hooked up the trailer brake controller on the truck.
Probably won’t be any updates for a while on the truck.

Re: 68 C50 crew cab daily driver (capable)
Well, ironically, I don’t have any updates on mine. Just been using the truck as is. Although this is something I would be posting if it was my truck. Got the customers front doors swapped over and converted. Something small for me, but it pays.

Re: 68 C50 crew cab daily driver (capable)
Well finally spending a weekend on me stuff.
Making room while getting my final pieces. Been burning the bed as a dismantle the C50 for scrap. Maybe one day I’ll get everyone else’s stuff out of my way and enjoy me time.
