Re: My 54
Again, thanks. I've heard of them, but never used them. I will look further into them.

Re: My 54
Check Google for how to and how to make your own tool. Amazon has kits with the tool to install. There are a couple of types. Rivet nuts and another one that has slits in the barrel of the insert so it splits off into 4 wings on the backside.

Re: My 54
The time has come for me to sell the 54. I am going to list it in the For Sale section, as well as Facebook Marketplace. I enjoyed working on it, but with the Cameo taking all my time and money, I need to lighten up the load. Tons of parts go with it.

Re: My 54
I haven't been able to bring myself to sell the 54. That's a good thing, because Ol' Blue is in line for the painter, and it won't get in the booth until mid-late April. So, I've started tinkering on the 54 again.
I was looking at the A pillars and there is a gap in the sheet metal between the room section and the pillar. Do all 54's have this gap? If so, what has been done to cover it? I looked at the dash that is in it that I tried to "make look presentable", but I think I'm going to have to just replace it. I found another, but they cut it a little short, so it'll be a test of my welding skill, or lack thereof! Good thing Mr. Bondo lives close by. Anyway, I would like to see some pictures of what you have done on the inside of the A pillars. Thanks.

Re: My 54
do you have a pic of the A pillar gap, so we can all see what you're dealing with?

Re: My 54
Raven, I didn't like the space, shown in the second picture.
So, I welded in a patch. It should body work out pretty smooth. This is the rider's side, but both had the same issue.
