Vent cable? I have never seen a cable on a Vent on and AD. There is a cable on Fresh Air heaters to work the air deflector.
The Top cowl vent is operated by a lever assembly as is the side vent on the drivers side. The defrost cable knob doesn't come off as it is part of the cable and doesn't come off You take the nut off the back side and remove the cable and housing as a unit.
