Re: Its been hot this winter in So Cal

Send some of that weather to CO, right now we stand at just 47% of our normal snowpack. This is the driest year I have ever seen and I have lived here my whole life. I just looked it up and news sources say it is the driest year ever. Crosses my fingers for a spring blizzard.

Re: Its been hot this winter in So Cal

Northern Nevada. I've lived here since 1961 and don't recall weeds growing throughout the winter like this year. Extremely warm really. Two weeks ago winter finally hit, and hit big, blizzard for days. Perhaps not even a week later a POWERFUL high pressure system chased the cold away, and it's been very calm and warm since.

I developed an assembly information kit for restoring my truck from nuts and bolts. It's written in Assy. order, short & simple, packed with all OEM hardware ID; castings; part ID; 100s of part numbers; wiring simple - Resource, and trivial too.

Much info. applies to all 67-72 GM, A/C vehicles, esp. trucks W/O saying. Full search ability, including to 700+ images of illus., parts, charts, Assy., points of interest, cab, bed, & front clip cart plans- Specials and cores were serviced out and R excluded e.g. front/rear glass, body/paint, engine core, rebuilt hinges, steering box, trans, etc.

The project was in-line with long former professions developing process, policy, specs, demo, written for novices, admin., policy, engineers, development, systems & test - Public & govt 2, gross. Sell soft copy cheaply, PM if interested.

Re: Its been hot this winter in So Cal

Had the furnace replaced a few months ago, and the guys commented that the condensate pans are corroded. Nothing otherwise wrong with the system. I was going to wait for a day where I needed neither heat nor AC to open the box and take a look. Should have done it last week. Well, we're not using the AC yet, so maybe it'll get opened tomorrow. I'd swear I saw plastic drip pans. If not, I can bend and solder some galvanized pans to put in there. That's a lot less than $11k. Wife just wants a new system installed. Yeah, go pick some money off that money tree out back.

Re: Its been hot this winter in So Cal

We received 2 dustings this winter in the high desert, maby 1/8" both times and that was in early March. It is La Ninas fault. Never seen anything like it. Hay is going to be expensive next winter. We will get 1 or 2 cuttings this year before the water is turned off. Some of the runs are open on the mountian with 160" total for the winter and a 42" base. I have to say I have enjoyed the warmer winter, but the best ones are rain down low and heavy snow in the Cascades.

Re: Its been hot this winter in So Cal

We had a warm winter here in Socal last year, and the summer wasn't so bad. Hoping for that again.

Re: Its been hot this winter in So Cal

I've lived in the same area all my life. Until a few years ago, like clockwork I'd turn the irrigation on during the last weekend of April. Earlier than that be sure it will freeze.

The last few years I've turned it on a week or so earlier, but this year it will be nearly a month and a half earlier.

So I'm going to jinx all of the upper mid west snow wise by taking the snow plow off the Jeep tomorrow. LOL.

Re: Its been hot this winter in So Cal

I did a road trip out to Blyth Thursday and Friday. Palm Springs showed 108. Going up the grade just east was 111 and 102 to 105 the rest of the way. 3.5 hours. The Chevy Volt, a plug in hybrid, does not have good gauge monitoring for the gas engine side. My senses were a bit elevated but with AC blasting we power on with the cruise set at 80. A testament to modern engineering.
