Re: 2000 S10 Xtreme Drag Truck

Just got back from our race club banquet. I took 3rd place in the electronics class with a truck that only worked half the season. Now on to the 2026 season. Winnings were a 3rd place trophy, $100 and a 69-piece Summit screwdriver set.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Congratulations! As an ex-electrician I have a good appreciation of quality screwdrivers. Nice score!

Re: 2000 S10 Xtreme Drag Truck

One of the upgrades I am doing on the S10 is making a gauge and ignition panel. This will be removable so I can have easy access to the back side of the gauges. And I can see all of the gauges through the steering wheel.

Re: 2000 S10 Xtreme Drag Truck

That panel looks good. Having it removable will definitely pay dividends down the road.

My buddy turned all the guages in his 9.90 Vega so the needles all point vertical when the engine is running normally. That way any needle that isn't vertical draws his attention. It looks goofy when the engine isn't running but he prefers it.

That's a good idea and I may do that. Just a quick glance would tell if something were off.

Re: 2000 S10 Xtreme Drag Truck

Latest update on the S10. I slipped the gauge panel on to see how it looked and I think it turned out nice. Not ready to install it yet, need to make a few changes and wire everything up. Then I took time and made a new mounting panel for the MSD Digital 6 box and RPM Switch. I wanted to reduce the size of the panel because the old panel took up too much room and had too much area not being used.

Re: 2000 S10 Xtreme Drag Truck

Got the new homemade gauge panel, MSD panel and Switch panels all wired up and installed. I also made a bracket for a LED interior light. Checked everything and it all works. Will start it up Sunday and check for any leaks at the gauges. Then I will need to do the fluid changes and other maintenance items so I can be ready for the 2026 season.

The 2026 Opening Season for our drag racing club starts tomorrow. I cleaned up the S10 because Win or Lose you got to look good doing it.

Re: 2000 S10 Xtreme Drag Truck

Thank you Scoti, I did make some rounds and got to the semi-finals before getting trailered. Everything worked except for the driver. Had a hard time cutting lights. Struggled really bad, need more seat time. Next event is at Thunder Valley Noble, Ok on April 12th. Hopefully I can get some TNT days in before this event.
