Hello All!
First post for me, I've been researching on the forums for the last several months, but was having registration issues (Big thanks to Liz and Josh for getting that fixed) so I was unable to post. I recently acquired this 1962 C10 from a gentlemen out of state. I'm having some issues with NJ getting this titled, so for now she sits in storage until I can get them resolved. During the PO's ownership, VA swapped the 6th digit "S" with a "5" and it has caused me over 100 hours in phone calls with several agencies to get to an answer on how to fix this. Needless to say, I am still far from getting a title in the near future, which is beyond frustrating. Hopefully I can get this registered before the summer, as I had ambitions to drive this thing everywhere. Here is what I have gathered so far: Car was a 1962, had a 1960 hood installed by someone in its past. It has a 1970 250HP L65 from a Caprice, a Muncie 4-spd, an unknown posi rear, Edelbrock RPM intake, period M/T valve covers, stock 441 iron heads, and it sounds like possibly a mild FT cam, and 3" fender dumps. It also had what appears to be a 78+ coil over front clip installed replacing the torsion bar front suspension. It has 15x5 Radir Wheels and Cooker white walls, but they are starting to dry rot pretty significantly. It needs a front end refresh everywhere, so I am trying to identify the parts and procure bushings accordingly. It looks like it was stored outside at some point, and there are literally dozens of mud dauber and small (vacant) hornet nests in every little crack. It also has a sizable amount of red GA mud in all the wrong places HAHA! History I know: It was built by someone in Missouri, and flame painted in the early 2000s by NJ artist Paul Millinchuk. It was sold to a few other owners before landing in GA. I found a business card of a tattoo artist (Charley Ferlito) so maybe someone here knows the previous owners. It was then traded to a FB dealer called Southern Fried Rides, where the person I purchased it acquired it in Sept 2025. Right now just looking to see if anyone in this community recognizes the car. I spoke briefly with Paul M, he couldn't tell me anything significant about the mechanical details, but he did furnish me with some awesome photos. The truck needs work, more than I initially expected. It was dismantled and reassembled crudely and I didn't catch some of the cab rot during my first inspection. The doors are bubbling pretty bad in the front drainage areas, and there are the beginnings of rust surfacing at the top of the cab. Overall though, I just want to make it run and drive and do what I can to preserve what's left. It needs many things to be done, a full rewire, and efforts to slow the rust progression. Luckily I have a sizable parts stash from my years of hoarding and I am pumped to be back in GM camp after several stints in the blue oval crowd. No brand allegiance here, but my dad brought me up to favor GM vehicles, so I would hope if he were around he would dig it. I'd love to hear from anyone here who knows this car, or anything about its history! This is the only picture I have on my Google drive that I can upload, but I will post more photos soon. |
