Good price on a repro grill.

Side story the other day Seth Doulton of Classic parts Did a post on FB saying that he had some nice repro 47/53 Chrome grills for sale for 439.00 including shipping.

You have to call him directly for that price 805.896.1548

His website price is 459 and news is that that manufacture in Taiwan had a big price drop. https://qualityclassicparts.com/prod...49185113178349

First image is the add and the second is the grill one of the other guys got today. I didn't take mine clear out of the box as it was too cold out in my storage shed.

Re: Good price on a repro grill.

I bought a new grill for my 51 four years ago online, don't remember from where. Its ok, but the chrome isn't great. Typical reproduction look to it.

A couple of years ago, I saw someone is now making and selling a "premium" grill that's more expensive and reportedly better overall chrome, fit, and finish. I have never seen one in person so I am affraid to pull the trigger and buy one and then sell the one I have.

I'm a perfectionist and want the best I can get.

Re: Good price on a repro grill.

I was going to find replacement bars for the ones in my grill that got bent when the truck got backed into while parked but the price of having them chromed or redone was going to be far more than this grill.

Re: Good price on a repro grill.

A few years ago I bought a restored OEM grill for my 53 3100. I had the options of $600 regular chrome. $800 heavy chrome or $1000 show chrome. I picked the heavy chrome and it looks amazing. It looks like it could drip off the grill. They did an excellent job on the rest of the grill also.

Re: Good price on a repro grill.

The bars on my grill that I had rechromed in 1982 still look great but a couple are damaged from being backed into. That chrome shop belonged to friends of my dad and uncle that they had grown up with. My dad even dated their sister after my mom divorced him. Even the hood center strip still looks great after being chromed that long.

The problem for me is that the closest chrome shop in any direction is 170 miles away be it Seattle, Spokane or Portland.

I might take my bumpers to Spokane to a shop that started out doing bumpers.

As far as my grill, the cost of redoing mine even if I just have replacement bars for the bent ones done will exceed what I paid for the grill.

Re: Good price on a repro grill.

To bad they don't do a GMC grill, I'd be all over it!

That is the one remaining piece I am unsure what to do about
and who to take it too.
