Re: Super Cheyenne aka the "Devil Cowboy"
Had a busy day in the shop. Processing the bolts for the front axle cover, getting them into paint after some degreasing and wire wheeling. Spent my lunch hour getting the trim taped on and marked with a white Stabilo pencil. I used a flexible ruler to get a few key measurements to get started. I will next remove the trim and make all of the inserts for the 3M trim tape, and install them into the trim and install to the lines drawn on the truck.
Also, have been working on clean up of the NL2 tank. Three days into soaking in Kroll oil and trying to get the carriage bolts off. I am about at the point of just cutting them off, and fabbing up new ones. Also, finally got the order of K&B tank sealer kit in so I can treat the inside and make it like new again.

Re: Super Cheyenne aka the "Devil Cowboy"
Getting close to being ready to install the trim on the drink side. I have been going through the same process as I did on the captain's side of the truck. Cutting my own 1/8 inch ABS plastic strips and inserting for the use of an adhesive promoter and 3M VHB tape.
After using a sample I saved from the other side of the truck, I used a sliding square to get the exact size in trim width needed. I mark it with a silver Sharpie, line it up with a metal ruler, then score it a few times with the plastic score tool. Carefully open the end of the trim with a pair of flat pliers so I can then slide the plastic inside the trim channel. After last piece is in I take it over to the bench vice where I have a piece of wood in the vise jaws. Then tape down the bent-up end channels and make sure that everything is tight and flat. Next step is to add all of the 3M VHB tape, use adhesive promoter on the ABS before tape goes down, also use promoter on the truck prior to install. Stay tuned, more to come

Re: Super Cheyenne aka the "Devil Cowboy"
The 3M tape showed up last night, and I got it done this morning. That is one more item to check off the list. I have to admit the trim looks good for what it was. Lots of work, cleaning, banging out dents, removing old woodgrain, taping and painting, and processing the new plastic backers and adhesive treatment. In the end, it looks right for the truck.
I grabbed the front drive shaft that I had cleaned up and painted earlier, and replaced the u-joints. It was not going to work either, just like the back. It was able to go on, but not enough room for contracting under a load. I remembered I had a couple in the garage parts shed. The first one I pulled out was about 1.5 inches shorter and was the winner for the install. I removed the newly installed u-joints from the other one and installed in to the number two front drive shaft. Now to get it cleaned up and some paint so it can be installed and checked off the list.
