Rear A/C

Was it possible to order a suburban with only rear A/C? I’m looking at one right now and everything looks factory and the SPID list “Air Conditioning-OV” code 1C69BF. Seems like an odd thing to do, just have rear A/C?

Re: Rear A/C

What year burb are we talking about? Ive seen plenty of 71 and 72 burbs with rear air but they always had air up front too.

Re: Rear A/C

1971. I agree, I’ve seen plenty with A/C front and back but this is the first time I’ve seen one with only overhead A/C. Guess anything was possible.

My father-in-law had a ‘71 back in the days when I was dating his daughter. We borrowed it quite often…and I only remember the long tunnel A/C unit that serviced the front as well as the back? I don’t remember any A/C vents in the dash, though? When I bought my current ‘72, it came with a “Dealer Installed” under dash A/C unit and “Dealer Installed” rear A/C unit (non-tunnel for ‘72), however, these were added a couple of years after new by the original owner (who was a Service Manager for a Chevy/GMC dealership). I know this isn’t close to a definitive answer…but I do believe that in ‘71, just having the tunnel type A/C unit and not having the in dash A/C vents was a possible configuration…and possibly saved the original owner some money?
