I have a quick question about some parts. I have been offered the disc setup from a 75 c10 for free. Has anyone done this swap on a 69 before? Any problems I should look out for? This just the parts without the crossmember. Thanks for the help guys.

take everything you can. when doing this swap you need to make sure to run with the same year part all the way through or you could end up with problems.

Yeah - try to get the cross member intact - wheel to wheel if possible.

If you only get the brakes and spindles, you will need new ball joints (and tie-rods, I think), as they are tapered differently. And of coarse, the master cylinder/proportioning valve.

Thanks for the help with this guys. I think that I am just going to buy one of these rough pickups from the early to mid seventies that show up in the paper. They go for around 4-500 dollars.

If you are waiting for one of those trucks for only the disc brake setup, remember you are buying old stuff! You may have to replace parts that are still worn out. If your suspension is in good shape now You can buy a disc brake kit from ECE that has all new parts. You can even get the dropped spindle kit for the same price. It includes everything you need to do the swap. It is around $800 but if you start adding up everything you may have to replace I think its a good deal. Good Luck....

All you should really need to have for the swap is the spindles, rotors, calipers, and all you have to change on the 69 set up is the outer tie rod ends cause those are different on the 75. I know this because me and a friend have done it. We didn’t run in to any problems when we did this.

You Didnt change master cylinder or use a proportioning valve when you did the swap DISTURBED??
I really think you need to do this for the disc brakes to operate properly.
