Wife and I went at it this morning

Decided it was a good time to get a few things done. We both have been working a ton of hours and decided the three day weekend was good timing.
Will get the driveshafts out next and work on getting the cab off. Should be pretty easy.
I would like to thank Blazerman for the offer to help get the bed off. Guess you can sleep late tomorrow.

This is the truck that I purchased from Phil.
It is far from the condition that Phil claimed before I bought it.
There is a lot of work to do. It will be completely redone before it sees the road again. There will be a ton of work to get the frame back to where it should be. Much of the body is getting replaced for this truck. Some could be used on a future truck or sold.
I have a mint factory Cheyenne Super cab and doors for it. A beautiful steel floor bed and a very clean straight front clip.
Thanks to Joesjunk, HJ Albert, Teeitup and many others for some excellent used parts. Tim Christian has supplied many new parts.
Randy, Rob and Joe have been great help and good friends to boot. I have met many great people here and spoke or dealt with many more.
Plans are to add air, tilt, Houndstooth Cheyenne interior, move the fuel tank to the rear, tow hooks, dual battery, full carpet, headliner, tach dash and Line-x the bed inside. Full trailer package, lift, 305 on 16 x 10 wheels, four wheel disc and gear changes with a 14 bolt rear.
White exterior and Blue/Black interior.

Forgot one important fact.
Our five year old grandson helped as well. He knows this one is ours and the other truck is his.
He also informed me that I was "paying him" for the work today. Wonder what this is gonna cost me? LOL

Diane, you and I think alike. Funny that a woman was the first to say it. I figured phrasing it that way would get lots of hits. Of course, Rob thought I got hit.
Anyway, my wife likes to do this sort of thing almost as much as I do. We have built everything together. Boats, bikes, cars and now trucks. Guess that is why we are together after 27 years. I suppose there is alot more to it than that. Truth is I got very lucky. I do not know what I could do to help you but if there is ever anything at all, just ask. I think about you and yours.
Randy, yes I still need a frame to play with. I also need to get with FuelCellGuy and check into his tanks. The more I get into this truck the more I am glad it found a good home. You should see some of the stuff on here. Can't dwell on the bad things. Just fix them the way I want and go on.
Can't wait to see your Blazer. And I plan to get over there soon.

Cry me a river.
At least a dozen members in this area have seen the truck in person and followed the thread at the time of sale. Not flaming anyone. Just truth.
Both tailgates that were thrown in are junk. Caved in and rusted out. The cab roof has rust above the windshield, the rear above and below the back glass was drilled for a gun rack and has gaudy holes to be filled. The bed is caved in at the center of the wheel wells and cannot be "Easily pushed back in place with a floor jack." The bed also has at least 8 extra holes because of the fifth wheel mess. The drivers window pillar was "punched" for a spotlight, not neatly drilled. The aux tanks are trash. There are brackets welded all over the frame for a fifth wheel mount that will need to be cut off and fixed. The "Tilt" is NOT a truck tilt. The tow hooks are 67-68, NOT 72. The truck is an automatic, NOW, but when I lifted the crap carpet it has a huge hole where a four speed used to be. The front end frame horns are damaged. The Cheyenne tailgate band is crap. Not "needing a little buffing".And if
pics of the glove box sticker and specific areas that I requested had been sent as requested, some of these things would have been noticed. Some not.
For a man that has been restoring these trucks at the rate of one every several months since 1972 ( his claim) he doesn't know s--t from shinola. He made promises and did not stick to them.
That is why he is gone. His mouth, his arrogance, his asset list. Nothing to do with me or this truck.
I have a camera. Would you like pics?
Ever notice how pics in the Auto Trader look great but when you see the vehicle in person, it is not even close? Wonder why Realtors take such long shots and odd angles of houses that are "Handyman Specials" up close?
Phil was a master.
Do not get me wrong here. This is now my truck and I will be very pleased when it is done. It will just take a little longer to get there because of some of the oversights. I was even happy when the truck arrived and still am.
I am also an adult, knew who I was dealing with, knew he was/is a BS'er and based the purchase on that. But for 30 years of expertise and so on and so forth, he could have been a little closer to the mark.
** edit, forgot to mention that the rear leaf springs are broken. Easy to see in person but very hard 1800 miles away and with no pics. Minor thing, right?
Tell Phil Hello, hope his health is good and to have a good life.
The case is closed. Truck on.
