Replacement Drip Rail

I'm having rust repair done inside the cab above the windshield! The windshield is out, and we blasted the around the windshield frame on the outside. It's pitted on top, below the front drip rail in the windshield frame. Would having a new drip rail welded fix this problem? Are the new drip rails like the original design? Is it part of the windshield frame like the original? If anybody has done this, can you please share your experience?

The new driprails only go from the curve above the door back to the bottom lip behind the door. I have pictures in the patch panel section of my catalog.
