Tach Install

I had this monster tach laying around for a few years and put it in recently. it has rev limiter and shift light. I bent some brake line and welded it to the column cover, the tach is mounted to the old column shifter mount. I just ground it down until the tach fit right. Speedo is right now, the PO had just wrote on the gauge face with sharpie...do you think polishing with toothpaste would remove?

If it's a sharpie, just like a magic marker, if you use plain old rubbing alcohol, it'll do the trick. just rub gently. it may take a while to get all of it out, but it'll get it. DO NOT use chemicals like naptha, toulene or xylene. while they will remove the sharpie, they'll also fog up the bezel, or worse, melt it. The good old alcohol out of the medicine cabinet is fine. I prefer to apply some other alcohol to myself when doing so. "Cleans" me right up too!

o, and toothpast is mildly abrasive. some gels may be good for polishing, like mag polish, but mage polish works the best. just did the bezel on my '77. plus mag polish leaves a light layer of silicone protectant behind.
