Cross your fingers!!!

I've been looking for Front brake hose for my C30 and nobody carries them any more. Finally got a federated parts to say he could order them. GM stopped carring them in '82, NAPA doesn't have a number for them any more. Chain stores didn't have them. Tomorrow they should be in and hopefully they will be the correct ones.

Hi Dave, have you tried the board venders? They have a way of finding those hard-to-find parts.

I looked through all of the online catalogs, All I saw was hard line sets up to C20 and nothing listed for the C30. I need the front rubber lines from the frame to the Wheel cylinders. GM had the '72 C30 listed as a separate part number from '71 C30 which I thought would have been the same. They also had the '73-'78 listed with a different number. I'm stuck now, The truck is in for state inspection and with out them it won't pass. I waited till the last minute and don't have the time to get them custom made.

BAD news/ GOOD NEWS

Federated ordered the wrong thing discontinued front brake hoses.
Good news when I went to Indy I got a catalog from rightstuffdetailing, gave them a call and they have them IN STOCK and will be here tuesday or wednesday. . Now if they can be put in and the rest of the truck pass I will be able to drive it to the OHIO meet.

Big let down . The wrong brake hose came in . I will call rightstuffdetailing today and see what they can do. . They are just outside columbus but my truck can't go to the ohio meet with me to get them made up while I'm out there. well there is always next year.

I went thru the same thing on my 69 GMC when I converted over to disc. I ended going with a braided stainless line and it was DOT certified.

As long as the brake line has the same fittings on both sides need to work on your line and caliper, you can get ones a little longer that will work ok. Most parts books will have a picture and description of the end types and sizes, find one thats closest to your length and get it. I had to do some creative brake hose purchasing when I put my 12" front spindles off a B body wagon on my 83 El Camino. Had to do that when I git the tubular upper control arms. Had to use 74 Camaro calipers and pads and a 91-92 1LE camaro front rotor to get the correct bolt spacing and metric thread studs. Had to use the 74 camaro brake hoses since the 83 el camino hoses were way too short after putting it all back on. The camaro ones were a little too long so I moved the mount for the brake lines back on the frame a bit to make them work. It can be done so if you can't get the exact lines you need, use one close to it.

I got my Truck back . I had a message on my machine when I got back from OHIO meet that the hoses shipped, They arrived tuesday and the truck passed inspection thursday. So I am not a captive in my home anymore. Not that I really have to go anywhere and I do have a lot to do around the home I just don't like to be a shut in. :p

Is there an actual visual/mechanical difference with these lines you are mentioning vs. the C/20 on down????

The only difference I could see was the angle of the hardline off the caliper. But that was between the after market for a C20 and the stock C30? so don't know any other difference for an OEM.

Ya know...I think the only consideration I can offer on this is :? Maybe the ID of the caliper fitting has a different diameter? ID of the Line at any pointe to be larger than a C20...???Maybe? Who knows...I can't inspect either of mine until I dismount the hose to tell. I might have a GM Dealership Parts book; If you have a GM Part number...PM it it to me and Ill look it up...

Cool

Our C30's were basically supension upgrades! Springs, Shocks...Rear Brake sizing? Not sure on the last one. I am the 2nd owner on mine. The 1st owner special ordered his; AND!...upon receiving it from the factory at the Dealer, it was driven 2 days until the 1st owner complained about the bouncy ride. Turns out, my Truck was minus the rear shocks as delivered from the Factory! Freaky! Yes! Impossible...? Well, the rear shocks are still The units installed at that time at that Dealer and they are over load shocks with the springs mounted outside the shock's barrel...:-)
