OK, on my 67, it was parked under a pine tree for 8 years, and as a result, there are pine needles everywhere. Including down in the cowl vent. How do I get that crap out of there?

Take the cowl off. Wiper arms, screws and bolts at the ends. If you are going to park under a tree suggest you put a screen in there before replacing cowl.

where are the screws and bolts, and can I get at all of them without taking body parts off? I've tried hosing them, air hosing them, pressure washing it, nothing works.

yes you can get to all the screws if you just open your hood...and to get the bolts just open your doors...the trickiest part maybe getting your wipers off...sumtimes there a fight sum there not...

I stick a garden hose in there at full blast, let it run until you get a good stream of water running out of the bottom of the truck on BOTH sides. If it is really bad you might have to open the cowl vents and stick your hand in there and fish out the stuff. While you are at it take the hose and rinse out the wheel arches, just shove the hose up in there while it is on. Also make sure that the drain holes are clear, there are 2 on the front fenders and 2 in the doors.

i tapes a series of hoses on the end of a shop vac and sucked all that junk out ... you've have much better air flow through your kick panel vents afterwards

I believe LMC has a set of vent screens that will help keep these clean...

When I got my truck last year it had the EXACT same problem. PO left it parked under a pine tree, needles everywhere and I am still removing dried sap with GOO-OFF.

Anyway, I had to remove my cowl to get all that junk out. Will remove it again to do some painting in there. But as I remember this procedure, the doors also had to be opened and at least one bolt on each side removed to get the cowl totally free'd up.

I believe it's only 4 bolts holding the cowl on. Be careful with your antenna.

what antenna? it was broken off flush with the nipple (I guess you'd call it) that connects it to the sheetmetal. I'll probably put on a late model antenna just so I have something to listen to (WLS BABY! lol). Thanks a lot guys, so the only bolts I need to remove can be accessed in the door jambs and under the hood?

negatory! The truck is going to be completely restored to OE conditions, with the one exception of paint color (that dark blue on new GM cars with 84 H/O door panels, dash pad, tuck 'n roll seat, and painted headliner).

I found all kinds of things that worked their way through the cowl down into the Heater Box and only real suggestion I got is vacum the thing out, pay close attention to where the stuff has fallen if your lucky the stuff hasn't clogged the cowl drain holes at the bottom of the firewall. if they get clogged you can have all kinds of problems with water laying and things starting to rust. there are also drain holes in the doors. alot of doors have rotted away because water settle in there because the drains were clogged.

My doors are pretty well gone, and I don't care much about the heater box because, for now, it's a summer truck and the heater core is leaking like a seive (just connected the 2 heater core attachments on the thermostat housing to each other).
