I'm planning on lowering my 70 chevy. Most of the kits I have seen are set up for coil spring rear end. I have a leaf spring rear end. What is the best couse of action in this situation? I would like to go 4" and 3" does tha sound pretty standard for a drop? Where is the best place to purchase the kit? Thanks in advance for the input

Early Classic Enterprises sell parts to lower leaf spring rear trucks.

A spring flip kit would get you a little more than what you are looking for, so de-arched springs is probably what you'd need. Although, I'm not sure if you could get 4 inches that way.

would lowering block be an option? 369.00 for 2 springs seems a bit salty. I don't mind spending the money if taht is what it takes, but I would like to know if blocks is a good alturnitive?

You would have to "flip" the rearend to use a lowering block. And,... if you flip the rearend, you would drop the back at least 6 inches. (Lowering block would not be required) Also a frame notch might be required. Look at ECE's stuff. Springs and shackles.

You can flip the axle.....then take the spring hangers off the frame, & drop them down to raise the truck back up a tick

My longhorn was done this way, & to my best guesstimation, its between 4-5" of drop. the leafs are a 4 stack(tossed the helper & 2 or 3 leafs on the bottom). those old 3/4 ton springs are still fairly stiff, & with only 2 3/4" clearance tween the rails & axle it never bottoms! i do reccomend a good set of slapper bars to handle the wheel hop on a leaf spring truck.
