Question fng

Hi,

Love the site, info works for me. Got an old farm truck with the floor board cut open and the bed wood rotted out,my favorite ride. The three speeds rattling and the 235 got replaced with a 250,got just enough go with a holley two barrel to get down the highway. I want to change the old girl to an automatic one day if I can find a donor vehicle that wont be to hard on the wallet or the mechanic to acomplish. What kind of ride should I look for and are there conversion kits that would make it easier?

Easy beans

get an automatic cross member out of a 67-72 model. I saw one on ebay a few weeks ago for 25 bucks. You will have to also get the transmission that you want to use. remove the old tranny and linkages and put the other under the truck, jack it up and put the cross member under it to find out where it needs to be bolted, them either bolt or weld it in. But a shifter kit, floor mounted will be easier and hook the linkages up.. you could do the whole this for around 300 bucks ir you're lucky to find a few deals

Smile Thanks

Found a turbo three fifty while looking for a 700r. The seller is eager but I think I will locate the cross member first. Thanks again.

Cross member

If you want an aftermarket part, brotherstrucks sell an aftermarket one for around 150.
