Question Shift indicator sloppy, help?

The shift lever/indicator on my 1980 Blazer is real sloppy. I can almost move it from drive to neutral without coming out of gear. Are these adjustable or do I need to install a new column?

Thanks, Doug

plastic bushings

Doug, the first thing I would check out is the plastic bushing in the linkage, they my be worn out and are easy to replace. If memory serves me correct there are 2, one near the firewall and one down close to the tranny.

Thanks Jeff;

I checked last night and the rod at the firewall has no bushing, just flopping around. Going to call my GM parts buddy and order top and bottom ones.

Part numbers would be nice if you can still get them.

Ok, got my parts in.....what a difference!

GM #1394293 is the upper sleeve kit, contains bushing and spacer. $3.20
GM #1377083 is the lower plastic bushing $2.50
These are Canadian prices so you guys can probably buy the whole works for about $4.00
Thanks again for the info and tips, much appreciated.
