i have a 4" lift on my 84 pick up. wondering if it was possible 2 change 2 a 6" lift, without having 2 take out the whole 4" lift and buying a full 6" lift kit.

Well, you will have to (at least) swap some parts--we need more detail. Regardless, you will need new front springs to do it right (my opinion). For the rear:
If you have a 4 inch block now you can install 2 inch springs.
If you have a shackle flip you can install 2 inch springs.
You can install new 6 inch spring also

BTW, depending on everything else, you may need new shocks, brake lines, driveshaft mods, and/or other steering arm/drag link mods

you will need front springs in order to do the front the right way, blocks up front are a big no no. they're illegal in all 50 states.

what do you have for lift now?

body lift is a cheap easy way to get tire clearance, but overall a bad idea. more leverage on the body mounts and bolts, due to them being longer would make for more body roll, and in time could break the bolts leaving the body free from the frame. not a good thing when you're sitting still, much less trying to drive it. body lift breakages are not common, but they do happen. i have seen 2 personally, fortunately nobody was hurt.

I agree, when you step up to a 6" your gonna need all of the above plus you will need to re-route the exhaust crossover because it will hit the front shaft.

i got 4" blocks in the back with new shocks and ****.. front i got new springs with shocks....i figured i would need all the extentions for the driveing and **** and brake lines..but i was wondering if it would be expensive 2 go from a 4" 2 a 6" lift

i got a 4" lift on my 86, with a 6" lift, ya got to have longer front brake lines, but you can go the cheap way out and get oem front brake lines for a 2wd, there longer, and cheaper at autozone than getter those braded deals for $70

......you'll also with a 6" lift have to get the driveshaft lengthened.....

you can put 35"s on a 4".....a 6" lift just seems like more buck than bang

aight so 2 go from 4" 2 6" i need 2 lenghthen my brake lines and extend my driveshaft...but would i need 2 take out my whole 4" lift and buy an brand new 6" lift??? i have 4" blocks in back and new springs in front

As stated in the previous posts:

Yes you would have to take out your 4" springs in the front and replace them with 6" springs.
You can keep your 4" blocks in the back and just add 2" springs.

So the answer to your questions is Yes, you would need to take out the front half of your lift (being the front springs) but No, you do not need to remove the blocks in the rear...just add 2" springs and you're ready to make the rest of the adjustments.

good point Heather, but if you're going to the trouble to buy 2" springs, why not just buy 6" springs and be done with it?

sell the 4' stuff and start over ! do it right or you will never be happy. Get spring lift all around no blocks ! drive shafts done 2 wd break lines and new 6' shocks . small drop for the sway bar steering arm.
