What is this wire for and where does it go?
had this purple wire come with my harness...........it just loops around, back into the same plug..........what is the purpose for this?

What harness did it come with? It looks like a neutral safety switch jumper. It's the plug on your column near the firewall. Might be an optional thing if you are using a floor shifter w/ and auto column. Just the first thing I thought of when I saw it.

Looks like a pre-made neutral start switch bypass. My switch screwed up earlier this year and I bypassed it. Looked just like that when I finished. What did you orginally buy the part for?

I bought my under dash and engine harness at the same time and it was in one of those two packages.......I just didn't have any idea of what it would be for.......thanks for the info....

Damn, you guys beat me to it. "Er, that's a pre-made neutral safety switch bypass for automatics, son!" I had to make my own. Wish someone would'a made me one. :P

Hey, i have one of them on my truck...no, wait, it isn't that neat. The Dope Smokin Old Man did it...it was a small loop of soder. No tape or anything, just bare metal.
