Will a 77 1/2 ton fit under a 87 1/2 ton body?

Just aquired an 87 Chevy Wrangler for 200 bucks. Problem is the frame is broke on the passengers side and rusted badly. I have a good rolling chassis from a 1977 1/2 ton. Can I swap the drive line and body to this frame? I am in the process of taking the diff and front end of the 77 as these are going to be used on another project. Any info would be helpful. Any links also would be valuable. Great forum. Thanks.

I don't think you will encounter any problems, I believe the frames are pretty close to being identical. IIRC, the front and rear of the frames where the bumper brackets mount may be slightly different.

Maybe Chris (Capt Kaos) can chime in with his expertise.

Thanks Bigblock, I appreciate the reply. I was hoping that that was what someone was going to say. I will await Capt Kaos's comments eagerly.

ive put an 81 cab with an 86 bed and bumper on a 76 frame and it all lined up except the bumper mounts which i wound up having to weld but its very easily done. I also had to run fuel lines to the other side of the truck to use a left mount tank as opposed to the right mount one very easily done also

Thanks. Sounds like I have a maor project ahead, before the snow flys. Garage is used up with my son's 80 short box rebuild. He's away a school and can only work on it during brakes. Well I suppose I should get hte wrenches flying. Thanks again. Any other ideas appreciated.
