'87 GMC Radio

Does anyone know where or IF I can find an aftermarket radio w/ a cd player that will fit into the stock opening of my '87 GMC half ton? I saw some in LMC but they were either tape players or CD controllers. As always.... any help is greatly appreciated!

A CD player will not fit unless you A: cut the dash or B: have a CD contoller and mount the CD unit elsewhere.

Custom Autosound and Kenwood offer cassette decks to fit the stock opening. Some of the units can also control a CD-changer. These are your only real aftermarket options without hacking up the dash, something I won't personally do. I added an aftermarket FM-modulated Pioneer 6-disc changer in the center console of my Suburban. It's great! I can easily switch a magazine without taking my eyes off the road, it's within arm's length, and has a small controller on the dash to the left of the stock stereo (i.e. no "steal me please" announcement).

Good luck!

here's my Pioneer DEH3500 installed in my truck. The hardest part was removing my brittle old dash bezel to cut. cutting the bezel then the dash metal was fairly straight forward. If you don't have A/C, another option is using the upper vent opening as a hole.
