Trans ID help Please

Could someone help ? I have a 4spd. w/ granny out of my 69 1 ton its marked GM on the top and the side . Did GM manufacture the trans or who else would have. Also ther is this number on the top3901131 and on the side 3901127. Thanks

it could be one of 3 trannies.
the SM420 (not likely), SM465 (most likely), or NP435 (not likely but possible).

reverse is to the driver side and down on the 420. reverse is to the passenger side and down on the 465. also, the 420 only has one PTO cover, the 465 has two. both of these trannies were made by GM.

the 435 is kinda rare in GM trucks, but they do pop up from time to time. i believe they have reverse to the passenger side and down like the 465, but i'm not sure on that. I do know that the top cover of the 435 is made of aluminum, vs cast iron on the 420 or 465. the 435 was made by New Process gear.

Thanks 1969 GMC ,I must have the 465 it has two PTO plates . Just another bit of great assistance from this board
